The National D-Day Memorial has embarked on a new initiative to install a Medal of Honor Garden, paying tribute to the four Medal of Honor recipients from D-Day.  Join us as we dedicate the first addition to the Medal of Honor Garden, a bronze plaque honoring 1st Lt. Jimmie W. Monteith Jr., a son of Virginia and member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Killed in action on June 6, 1944, Monteith's heroism was so apparent that both General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General Omar Bradley personally recommended Monteith posthumously receive the nation's highest honor for valor in combat....

The National D-Day Memorial joins museums nationwide in the Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that provides free admission to currently-serving U.S. military personnel and their families. The 2024 season runs Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, 2024 to Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2024. The Memorial is open daily, 10AM-5PM. We’ll be packing our 1942 WC-53 Dodge Carryall and a Virginia National Guard vehicle with donated items to fill care packages. $2 off Memorial Admission at the gate with item donation (Cannot be combined with online ticket discount or any other offer.) Item collection at ticket booth for those not wishing to visit Memorial. Free admission for Active-duty service members and up to five family members. Shop with a printable shopping list.
