Living History

Thank you for your interest in participating in events at the National D-Day Memorial in 2020!

We truly believe that the addition of WWII living historians to our events helps the public better understand the valor, fidelity, and sacrifices of our men and women during the war.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Maggie Hartley, Associate Director for Programming and Events, at mhartley@dday.org or (540) 586-3329

Important Forms for Living History Units:

Please only have one member from each unit complete the following documents. That person will be the National D-Day Memorial’s primary contact for events that you are interested in for 2020. A staff member will follow up with you following a review of both completed forms.

PRELUDE AND V-E DAY UPDATE (3/17/20):

The National D-Day Memorial Foundation is closely monitoring the evolving situation regarding COVID-19 and following the recommendations and guidelines of health officials. The Memorial remains open to the public with normal operating hours; however, we are limiting operations to encourage social distancing.

In following the guidance of state and national officials regarding large public gatherings for the next eight weeks, we are cancelling Prelude to Invasion: Living History Weekend that was scheduled for Saturday April 18 through Sunday, April 19. We are also cancelling the V-E Day Parade that was scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2020. We are working on alternatives to commemorate the end of World War II.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to protect the health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and WWII veterans.

Please contact Maggie Hartley, Associate Director for Programming and Events, with any questions related to Prelude to Invasion at mhartley@dday.org or (540) 586-3329 ext. 111.
