Volunteers play a crucial role in the efficient operation of the Memorial. Through the time and commitment of Volunteers, the Foundation is able to provide a memorable experience for visitors. The National D-Day Memorial offers several of volunteer opportunities. Current opportunities for volunteers include:
- Tour Guides
- Gate Attendants/Greeters
- Educational Program Assistants
- Gift Shop Attendants
- Special Event Support
- Student Volunteers
- Research Assistants
Volunteers typically commit to serve a minimum of 50 hours of service per year by volunteering at least one shift (4 hours) per month. All volunteers serve an introductory period consisting of 25 hours of service before they become vested with the foundation. Annual Volunteer training is held each year for all current and prospective volunteers. Additional training may be necessary for some volunteer positions.
