The Allied Forces of World War II wrote the most important story of the last century. As the world approaches the 80th anniversary of D-Day, it is still hard to conceive the epic scope of this decisive battle that foreshadowed the end of Hitler’s dream of Nazi domination.
When it was over, the Allied Forces had suffered nearly 10,000 casualties; some 4,400 were dead. Yet somehow, because of planning and preparation, and due to the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of the Allied Forces, Fortress Europe had been breached.
On Thursday, June 6, 2024 the National D-Day Memorial commemorated this historic liberation. Thousands joined the Memorial in recognizing the 80th anniversary of D-Day where their valor, fidelity, and sacrifice are honored every day.
