Volunteering & Service Projects

Volunteers play a crucial role in the efficient operation of the Memorial. Through the time and commitment of Volunteers, the Foundation is able to provide a memorable experience for visitors. The National D-Day Memorial offers an array of volunteer opportunities.

Looking for a unique volunteer opportunity where you can meet people from all over the world? Are you interested in history or tourism? Why not spend some time at the National D-Day Memorial? It’s a rewarding experience and a great way to give thanks to our veterans.

Current opportunities for volunteers include:

  • Tour Guides
  • Educational Program Assistants
  • Gift Shop Attendants
  • Student Volunteers
  • Research Assistants

Volunteers typically commit to serve a minimum of 50 hours of service per year by volunteering at least one shift (4 hours) per month. All volunteers serve a probationary period consisting of 25 hours of service before they become vested with the foundation. Annual Volunteer training is held each year in late February for all current volunteers and also for prospective volunteers who wish to learn more. Additional training may be necessary for some volunteer positions.
