National D-Day Memorial

Each September the Memorial marks the official end of World War II with the Poppy Peace Garden. To pay remembrance, red poppies are placed alongside the Le Monument Aux Morts sculpture as a visual tribute to the men and women who gave their all to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. The garden also commemorates the 9/11 anniversary and the first responders who sacrificed their lives for the safety of others. The display can be viewed daily, 10AM-5PM. Blood donors help save lives today, just as they did in World War II.  Be part of this tradition and support the National D-Day Memorial by giving blood at an on-site blood drive. The Blood Connection, the non-profit blood provider locally for Carilion Clinic, will donate $10 for each blood donation collected to the Memorial. As a thank you, each donor will receive $60 in rewards. Donors must be at least 16 years with signed permission, weigh at least 110 pounds, have a valid ID, and be in general good health. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will be honored first....

World War II Day Camp registration is NOW LIVE! At this year's camp for rising 3rd-6th graders, campers will learn about the life of Dwight D. Eisenhower, from his childhood through his presidency. The camp is from Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26 from 8:30AM to 1PM daily. A t-shirt, goodie bag, and daily snacks are included. This camp will sell out! Register now!

Visit this one-of-a-kind display featuring World War II model planes, tanks, ships, jeeps, historic figures, and more. Sponsored by the Roanoke Valley International Plastic Modelers Society. Regular admission fees apply. Tours of the Memorial will be available throughout the day.
