Volunteering & Service Projects

Volunteers play a crucial role in the efficient operation of the Memorial. Through the time and commitment of Volunteers, the Foundation is able to provide a memorable experience for visitors. The National D-Day Memorial offers an array of volunteer opportunities.

When you become a National D-Day Memorial volunteer, your commitment, enthusiasm, and knowledge allow us to fulfill the mission to honor the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of the Allied forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Current opportunities for volunteers include:

  • Tour Guides
  • Gift Shop Attendants
  • Educational Program Assistance
  • Special Event Support
  • Research Assistants

Volunteers typically commit to serve a minimum of 50 hours of service per year by volunteering at least one shift (4 hours) per month. All volunteers serve a probationary period consisting of 25 hours of service before they become vested with the foundation. Annual Volunteer training is held each year in late February for current volunteers and prospective volunteers. Additional training may be necessary for some volunteer positions.
